Slate Run Loops

Distance: 24 miles and 25 miles               Topo/GPS Map

Description
The Slate Run Loops begin and end in the Village of Slate Run and takes you through the Village of Cedar Run using the Pine Creek Bike Trail to connect the villages. The ride then ascends the plateau going into big and remote forest lands. The longer loop goes up Cedar Run and down Slate Run.  There are nice swimming holes on both streams. The shorter loop goes up Gamble Run and down Slate Run. The Manor Hotel has a nice deck overlooking Pine Creek for lunch or dinner. Ice cream, sodas, and deli sandwiches are available at the State Run gas station. Ice cream, sodas, and sandwiches are available at the Cedar Run store. The Cedar Run Inn is open for dinner but unfortunately not for lunch.

Getting There
From Wellsboro go south 12 miles on Rt. 287 to the Village of Morris. Turn right on Rt. 414 at the upper end of the village and continue 5 miles to the Village of Blackwell. Be careful coming into Blackwell.  There is a one lane bridge over Babbs Creek with a right angle turn on the other side. Then the road is very narrow for a bit.  This is not a problem if everyone takes it slow. Continue through Blackwell 12 miles to Slate Run. Turn right just past the gas station and park at the Slate Run Access for the Pine Creek Bike Trail.
